Sounds like a lot for a bike that's at least 3rd hand and 4 years old.
When did Shimano drop LX from the mtb groupset to the trekking range?

Preety sure it was around 08, as SLX came out in 2009. I've still got some 05 LX brakes and shifters, and possibly a front mech on my Enduro that are working beautifully, seems a decent amount of bike for the price.

Is a 2008. If in good condition is a good buy, but saying that I'd offer £400.

The old LX group is better built than SLX IMO, with smoother shifting.

2006 LX rear mech still going strong on the 'hopper. Although just ordered a new XT one as the jockey wheels look like throwing stars on the LX & I wanna go to 10-speed anyway so seemed like a good time to upgrade

I wasn't saying anything against LX is was just wondering when it was relegated to trekking. I had LX on an old Orange bike that I miss.

The SLX shifters (at least based on experiance in my club) are proving a lot less durable than LX.......of 5 riders on SLX, 4 have had the left hand (only) fall apart internally.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
