New lightweight bike recommendations please

Time to get a new bike, as my sub £100 catalogue shop reject bike has now had its day! The issue is that due to a back injury, I need a lighweight bike as I have to carry my bike over a bridge to access routes. It is really hard to find information on the weight of bikes.
The use is a mix of road but mostly fields and rough tracks. Hard tail?
Pricewise, I would prefer to be around the £500 mark but would be prepared to pay more, if really worth it to get a much lighter bike.
Please can you advise any options and recommendations at this price. Thanks

Almost all mountain bikes below £500 weight between 29lbs (if you are lucky) and 34lbs. Not too much of a difference. Often the better performing bikes can be a tad heavier due to damped forks, disc brakes etc.
The best £500 MTB, and one of the lightest too, is the Decathlon Rockrider 5.1. Superb spec, great forks, sub 30lbs.
If you think you can live without a suspension fork, then take a look at this:

Very light for the money.0 -
Thanks, these are exactly the two bikes I have narrowed down to. How much do these weight? How much extra cost to get something lighter?Ride to live.......live to Ride!0

The Rockrider is 29lbs, the Boardman 24lbs. To get lighter bikes of each type (hardtail and rigid), are looking to spend double that for any significance.0

hi
im looking for a light bike too... doesnt have to be new, as long as its in decent condition and has disk brakes and front suspension...
if i were to look at Canyon and Merida below 10kg, which would be better? lightweight bikes are probably all carbonfibre?
i dont know much about the parts either... it always gives me the creeps if someone lays down their awesome bike specs... :?0 -
Aluminium bikes can be lighter at lower budgets, as the money saved by not having a carbon frame is invested in lighter components.
But to get below 10kg with suspesnion forks you are looking at spending generally £1500-£2000.0 -
what about the models? like what are the options, etc...0

Custom built OnOne whippet? Easy to make that weight with SIDs, XT groupset, Superstar Wheels and lightweight finishing kit.
Or reduced Scott Scales, Giant XTC Advanced.0 -
