25mm Tyre Pressures
Hi all,
I've had a good search around, and most pressure recommendations are based on 23mm, and I'm switching from 23mm to 25mm Schwalbe Durano Performance.
According to the http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=3802 I should have about 94PSI for a 25mm tyre and a rider weight of 69KG. My tyres are only rated to go up to 6 bar, so that is far too high.
If it is of any help, I am riding a Trek 1.2.
Much appreciated if someone can help
EDIT: Checked my tyres again, and the writing on the tyre indicates pressure range should be between 6 and 8 bar, but for some reason the leaflet says 6 bar maximum. Good way to cause confusion!

I reckon you could get up to 100 PSI on a 25mm tyre. I have done in the past but, I'm no techieGhost Race 5000 (2011) Shimano 105 Black

I'd read what the recommendations are from the manufafturer, either on the side of the tyre or via their website.Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.0

Hi BDFun
You and me both mate. Just fitted some new Schwalbe Ultremo ZX 23mm last weekend and like you I took the route - "if in doubt read the instructions"
Like you, the leaflet enclosed with the tyres showed a series of schematics on how they should be fitted and what to avoid. And like you I was misled by the schematic which showed a pressure range of 3.5 - 6.0bar (51 - 87psi)
This struck me as very low so I posted this thread:-

It was only later that I decided to check the tyre wall and found that the recommended pressure range was 6.0 - 10bar (87 - 145psi).
Its a simple thing but you'd think that Schwalbe might just add a comment to the schematic such as - "Check the sidewall of your tyres for the recommended pressure ranges"0 -

I know the min-max range, but I was trying to work out roughly where in the range it should be based on weight. Was hoping some people would post what they pump their 25mm tyres up to see if my estimates were wildly off.
I tried using the chart from the CTC site, but my minimum pressure that I came up with (based on load per wheel) seems to be under the minimum pressure recommended for my tyres, so that wasn't too useful!arlowood wrote:Hi BDFun

Glad I wasn't the only one0 -
About 10-15 psi lower than for 23nn tyres.
I run 95/105 on 23mm and 80/90 on 25mm.0 -
