Hello guys,

Thinking to change my 3x butcher crankset but before I would like to have some opinions about the double shimano FC-M785 crank.

Which would be the best size for All-mountain and some freeride
26-38 or 28-40

My actual cassette is a Shimano 11-36 SLX 10 spd

Thanks

Only you can answer that question really. What have you got on the bike now? Spend some time riding without using the big ring and see how it goes

I went from a 22.32.44 to a 22.36 but before I made the change I spent 2 or 3 weeks riding without using the big ring at all and it was fine.

Also about to change from a 9sp 11-34 to a 10sp 11-32. And I've done the same - spent the last few rides not using my lowest gear. I won't miss it (although I did a killer climb on Friday and used it then  )

    Actually I have a Shimano M552 24/32/42 10spd and I don't use the 42 at all ;)

On the new 785 crankset the difference between sizes is really short  :|

    Is not like comparing a 22/36 to a 28/40

Go single up front with a 36t ring.
