I have an old Look KG96 in need of repair. The rear drive side alloy dropout has become unbonded from the carbon rear triangle (on the chain stay). The frame is intact and undamaged it seems to just be a case of coming unstuck. I would like to know how to rebond together again, is there a particular type of epoxy anyone can recommend for alloy to carbon bonding? I can't afford a professional job
Karlos69, how did you get on?0 -
Aluminium lugged frames unglueing is due to galvanic corrosion - they can be repaired but you need to clean-off any white corrosion deposits from the alumnium and then put some sort of barrier coating on the metal before re-bonding. Suggest you look at the Devcon range of adhesives rather than something like Araldite which is fairly brittle. Would also suggest you need to jig-up the frame to keep everything aligned whilst the glue cures.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
