Rockshox 1 Stiff?

hi,
another one of my basic queries - sorry.....

My good bike is in the workshop getting a new freehub so I'm having to make do with my old marin. The rockshox dart 1 shocks seem really stiff with hardly any travel. I bought a new 'soft' spring for them - it seems to have helped a little but not very much. Can anyone think of anything else that would help?

Did you fit the new spring?

Probably not the best idea to throw good money at something so poor.

did you lube it and put new oil in them?

as far as I know you don't put oil in the Dart 1's - just greased the spring itself loads. It only cost a few quid and if it keeps the 2nd bike half decent then I'm happy enough,
