Voodoo Bantu or Hoodoo or something else for £500???

Hello all,
I'm looking to buy a hard-tail mountain bike, but I'm really stuck on what bike to get with all the options available.
I have reserved the Voodoo Bantu at Halfords for £359.99, http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499
But after going in to collect the guy said it would probably be worth paying the extra and getting the Voodoo Hoodoo for £500. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499
He said the forks, brakes and gears are alot better.
As im new to mountain biking, I'm now Im really confused on what to do, go with the Bantu or Hoodoo?
Or is there something else on the market for £500 or under what is better than the Hoodoo?
