Penhydd Trail at Afan

Hi,
I want to plan a mountain biking/camping holiday this summer and was looking at Afan forest.
Is there any news on whether the Penhydd trail at Afan will be open by this summer and is it worth going there if it's closed? We went to Coed-y-Brenin last year and found the black run challenging yet fun, so looking for something of a similar level, not the boring flat rubbish like Thetford Forest.
Also can anyone recommend campsites around the area, preferably with campfire facilities!
Many thanks
Adam

Not sure whether Penhydd will be open or not, but there are camping facilities at Glyncorrwg (the other site at Afan) with the Whites Level and Skyline trails (which are great and definitely not flat!)Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!

Penhydd is gone, that whole side of the valley is treeless, muddy desolation, and the word is that a Penhydd replacement wont be rebuilt this year. In fact the whole place is a bare mess; it feels a bit downbeat and depressing in afan at the moment.0
