Need to replace the cane creek headset bearings on my 2011 Focus Cayo, I'm told I need these by Wiggle, but they don't stock them, Google doesn't help much, as those codes seem to be for the headset itself. Any ideas? I've looked at the existing bearings and there are no numbers at all visible.

Top
IS41 1 1/8"

Bottom
IS47/33 - 1-1/4"

Very annoying... if they don't stock a headset for a bike they sell, when they have 90 different types of helmet, it's enough for me to put me off buying anything which is not basic spares and clothes from them. Idiots and incompetent...

Try JE james or a german website, Focus is german I seem to recall, you might have better luck there. Alternatively, give a call to Sigma Sport in Kingston, they do sell Focus, I think.

The cane Creek website is a jungle where you get lost very easily and integrated headsets are a jungle

Do you have any vernier callipers? You could always measure them then buy ones that match?

You need the ID, OD and depth (plus the angle which'll probably be 45 degrees)

I've mailed Cane Creek, they do list bearings on their site, might go into James tomorrow as they are only up the road. Don't much fancy taking it to bits again as I've got it nice and firm on the dodgy bearings which will fall apart again as soon I take them out!

Silly question, if JE James is up the road, why did you buy from Wiggle? Surely they could match the price or offer you an equally valid deal... buying a full bike from an online retailer is hardly a good idea, if one has the option to go local

Cos JE James didn't sell Focus last year, or anything near the spec for the price. Just wanted to fit the bearings myself rather than use LBS this time. I have better LBS for customer service locally than James, so will use those if I can't source myself.

the top is probably a standard 1 1/8 Cane Creek bearing (36x45 deg). Plenny of places stock them (CRC, SJS) or the aftermarket equivalent e.g. VP bearings (Superstar)

the bottom is less common, as it's 1 1/4 (same a Giant bikes). I've not seen an aftermerket seller of these, but I'll do some digging....

I've put them back together and all feels well at the moment, solid on braking , quiet, smooth etc. The bottom was worse, but I think after a good clean , grease and re assemble it will be fine until I get my LBS to have a look when I get a full service in a bit.
