Hi there,
I am after an MTB in about max £300-370 price range (I wouldn't mind to get something in the bottom of this range). I did read this forum and I know the general conclusion that I am not going to get anything amazing in this price range.
So far I narrowed my searches to "few":

http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop ... TS-40D.htm
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop ... S-PROD.htm
http://www.rutlandcycling.com/40275/Mon ... -Bike.html
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-gb/bik ... 346/54071/
which one in your opinion would be a best buy in this price range or would you recommend something else?
cheers,
ibaraki

Carrera Vulcan has good reviews aplenty and there's a 10% discount code floating about online too0

Thanks for these hints, I will have a look at Halfords... How would you rate Merida 40D and Giant from my post against both Carreras? I have got bike shop with these 2 bikes within a walking distance from my flat, need to drive to Halfords, but want to get best for my money though.0

Given the thrashing handed out to allcomers in the sub £400 test by the Vulcan it would be shortsighted to overlook it, however the Voodoo Bantu I think edges it over the Vulcan courtesy of it's fork and is currently within that budget.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Following your suggestions I will be heading to Halfords this pm to give Bantu a try.
Meantime I found more bikes to think of:
Moongoose Tyax Elite 2011 that has great reveiews as well: http://www.discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/p ... s_id=11161 and with a big effort for my budget (if worth it) Cannondale from Paul's http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.p ... b65s2p3118
Is Bantu best of this three? Or should I consider any of these as a better alternative, especially Tyax?
Many thanks,

Not sure what size you're after (and if you're interested in used) but this looks like a good buy to me;
