Looking to change from my Stumpjumper (26) FSR to a Stumpjumper 29 Hardtail, most of my riding doesnt need 140mm travel but with the brain on I dont feel it that much.
Anyone gone from Full Sus to 29 and regretted it???

Guessing you ride Swinley Forest a lot? I was speeding round there on Sunday on my HT 29er with near slick/hybrid tyres on and thinking that full sus wouldn't be needed on most trails there.... but then what about trips elsewhere?
People's opinions always differ as do preferences. You need to demo the bikes, a HT 29er isn't equivalent to a full sus 26er0 -
Well bit the bullet and grabbed a 29er HT Carbon and I am very very impressed, after 2 hours on it today around my usual very varied route I found it alot more responsive and fast, the most noticable thing was traction on climbs and the usual well documented rolling over things with ease, I think the very minor lag for the first 2-3 seconds of initial acceleration is nothing to write home about. So far so good0

I personally can't wait to try the newly arriving trail legged 29ers (Tallboy Lt and Yeti SB 95) - on paper could be redefine my do anything bike (in a world were I sometimes think my spicy is too much for alot of the riding I do yet would feel a little under biked they way I ride the faster descents...
I'd better get saving though unless specialised, giant, cube and co. come up with something a little cheaper in the next year or so!!Lapierre Spicy 516 XTR custom (2013) -http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129323320
