Buying used can be a false economy if you have to service it. A new shock will run a good year 18 months before needing any work. Second hand shox can be a pile of poo inside, if they have been run dry for example.0

im willing to take the chance on getting something better for the same amount of money and i would like to know how to service fox as there are plenty off videos on them the internet, so im willing to have a go.2014 Giant Trance 27.5 1

i was exactily the same as you last week, same budget and considering new or used
bought the new rockshox recon gold from onone as I did not want to gamble on a used dual air
stuff on ebay goes for nearly the same as new prices and the older fox forks all looked a bit ropey - no guarentee they were any good0 -

I would not pay £200 for use fox forks. You're gonna have your work cut out.0

looking for some talas or some 32 rl/rlc wouldnt mind finding some 140mm's that can be spaced down to 120mm as i would like to get a new frame at the end of the year. also i wouldnt mind if need be sending them to mojo if really needed.2014 Giant Trance 27.5 1

£300 is being more realistic but still i would buy new rockshox forks at this budget, there will probably be some sektors with travel adjust for around/little bit more than this.0 -
What frame is it for? What is your max budget? WHat axle type? How hard do you ride, and what do you weigh?0
-
frame:2007 carrera kraken which from any reveiws i can find say 100mm travel so 120mm should be ok no? cant realy check as ive killed the origanals.
weight: about 80kg without kit but slowly lossing it.
how hard i ride: not very have been to queen elizabeth country park a few times and really really enjoyed it but my bike isnt really upto the job so i dont realy puss that hard.
budget:around £200 quid but im ok with waiting an extra month and getting them surviced.2014 Giant Trance 27.5 1

120mm will be fine - EPicons a good shout, but this is a better bet:

For £200 plus the cost of servicing you'd probably be better off with some new Rebas.I don't do smileys.

If you want less weight and more adjustability yes, is a good price. But consider the Reba too, are £250 ar Merlin.0

If your looking for a 140mm fork to space down until you get a new frame, Rock shox Revs would be my choice.0 -
are these still any good being that there a 2009 model http://www.buybikebits.co.uk/acatalog/R ... d-328.html and as for the 20mm axel im going to be upgrading my wheels anyway so i might as well buy some forks with a maxle and then just spec that as my front hub type thingy from superstar2014 Giant Trance 27.5 1

You have Reba in the link above, I would have Reba over Epicons any day of the week.0

Don't knock having a good look on ebay- last year I got some new (literally unused) 2011 fox f120's fit rlc for £320. Theres's some bargains to be had if you look hard enough.0

The Reba is at least the equal to a F120 though!0
