Instep protection

I have very flat feet and ride with Specialized BG shoes with the red insole. This, together with carefully adjusted pedals and cleats, gives me pain-free riding for up to 100 miles (my max distance so far :) ). BUT, the instep on my left foot gets a bit sore after 50 miles or so mainly as that's the side I clip and unclip at stops.

I'm thinking that some form of stick on protection might help. Does anyone have experience of this problem?

Thanks.

Have you tried compeed blister patches ? They might help. You can get them in various sizes from most chemists or supermarkets.
