What GPS unit does anyone recommend for mtb use? Not bothered about having OS maps, I just want to download a route and follow the line on the screen to cut down on map reading. The cheaper the better...

Cheapest method is a gps phone and strava or similar as long as you're not doing any epic rides.
Garmins are great though love my 800 but overkill for the mtb. I'd probably go for the 500 and the cadence sensor if you're riding in heavily wooded areas the gps can get lost in the treesSaracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

i been useing a garmin edge 500 since december for my training.. it's been faultless gives me all the data i want. and cost me £135..... it does do basic route ie a line to follow. but i have not used this function on mine so cant comment if it's any good or not...www.bearbackbiking.com
