Just wondering what forms a decent mix of tools to carry on rides?

I guess some people travel light, some heavy, but would really appreciate peoples input as I don't want to get caught short!

Cranks Brothers mini tool (the chain splitter of which I could not get to work when I needed it once!)
Leatherman pliers/knife/etx - usually ( it is heavy)
    2 tubes
lots of puncture repair stuff and a couple of tyre patches after ripping the sidewall of a Racing Ralph 2 years ago
Zip ties - one of the few things on this list I have actually needed in anger!
    Pump
    tiny strap-on rear light
    power link
    chainring bolts

If riding at a trail centre I'll take a gear cable, shock pump, brake pads, derailleur hanger/bolts, jockey wheels and bolts, and whatever else takes my fancy...

I'm a right tool on a bike, so me :D.

But much as the above. Key ones being allen keys, chain tool, power links, spare tube(s), pump.

And increasingly for our gang, a field medical kit, someone skilled in CPR, or at least has a good phone with 999 signal and GPS or good knowledge of where they are.

Topeak Hexus has most of what you need tbh but I carry a couple of Lezyne powerlevers as well, just because they're miles better than the ones on the Hexus. Spare tube, some powerlinks, a wee bit of toothpaste tube to be a tyre boot, spare mech hanger... And I carry a decent sized pump as well, since minipumps are rubbish. I've got CO2 kit but pumps are better, you can top off a tyre and lend it out and all that.

Not much first aid stuff, mostly it's not very useful, but a couple of those compeed heel plasters- they're good for blisters and can patch cuts etc, and stay put under pads- and a couple of tramadol, just in case I ever need to walk off the hills with a broken leg or something

Wipes to clean the mud out of the blood and something to stick on it until I/they get to somewhere to stitch it up properly are the main useful thing. Sling maybe.

Plasters I use on stuff that stings like hell when rubbing against things. Usually pedal strike cuts.

Short rides from the house, just an allen key multi tool.

Longer rides the above, plus pump, patches.

Local woods - nothing, it's so close walking home doesn't take much longer than riding.
Further away - topeak alien multi tool, glueless patch kit, spare tube, pump, chain pins and a crank bolt tool.

and a space blanket. A lad ruptured his spleen on Stile Cop last year it's surprising how fast the shivers set in on a hillside after the adrenaline wears off.

Holding all kinds of things together that are broken.

Gets some things roughly working, stops things flapping about, can be used not just for the bike but stuff like shoe/bag/clothing repairs and even some medical situations! Or just to hold the parts together in your bag after they've fallen off.

Anything you can think of really. Can even make snow tyres with them.
