Teocali headset size?

Hi
I have a Mongoose Teocali frame that im currently collecting parts to build up. I assumed the headset would be 1in 1/8 but it looks much bigger than my Trek. I have measured it and it is 1in 6/8 internal . Is the extra room just to allow for headset?
What headset will i need? will it fit a tapered steerer due to extra size?
