Hello, i got a bit of an issue with the front brakes on my trek mountain bike. The brakes are avid Elixir R and the travel seems to be quite long compared to when i last rode it.
The bike has only been riden once in the last 4 months due to a haand opperation. When i rode last was about month and half ago but the brakes were spot on, went out this morning and the lever pretty much touches the grip. I inserted the red wedge thing and punmped the lever a few times and this imporoved the travel a little but its still not right. Basically im wondering if i could get air in the system with it being sat for a while, been stored in a heated room all the time.

Is this any help? viewtopic.php?f=10004&t=12846573
How was it stored? Upside down/wheel in the air/upright etc0 -
cheers for the link, will have a look..
Bike was stored on both wheels with 1 grip resting on wall.0 -
I can't see how air could get in then. I don't know an awful lot about them but I've heard of problems when the bike is stored upside down0

Stick a rubber band around the lever and leave it overnight. But I'd try resetting the pads first. Take the wheel out, squeeze the brakes enough to close the pads just enough so the disc won't fit (but not enough to pop the pistons) then gently lever the pads apart so the disc just gets in.I don't do smileys.

Had a good look through the link for avid brake setup and think it might be down to the pad position. will try resetting the pad properly tomorrow as i didn't do it exactly as it explained on the instructions.. Cheers for the info0
