Giant Revel Ltd 0 or Cube Attention?

Can anyone advise as to which bike has the better spec and best value for money? Both priced at around £679.
I intend to sit on both models in the next week or so and would like to go with a little advice / knowledge of the two. I will be buying via the cycle2work scheme which limits me to certain independent stores (i was interested in the Carrera fury but it is only available at Halfords which is not in the scheme!).
Also are the prices advertised on-line usually the best prices available or can you usually negotiate a reduction?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cube attention every time , American bikes seem to all have great frames but the kit and especially the forks let them down . The forks on the attention are ok and if like me you are doing a good amount of tracks then you wont have a problem.
The XCR forks on my old scott state for leisure purposes only but I have to say after 5 years of total abuse they are still in tact so I can't see a problem with the XC28 on the cube. The comparible bikes I looked at were the Boardman Comp, Specialized rockhopper , Trek however apart from the Trek none had 30 speed , were particularly light or looked the part .
Most of the "gear no idea lot" seem to stick to Marin or Giant however I would recommend the cube as althought they are getting more and more popular there aren't loads around. If you get one check the seatpost as thats the only area I have had a problem with however within a week of speaking to the supplier (JE James) I had a new easton post.0 -
The Revel is the basic frame from Giant, and whilst better components are always welcome on any frame, at £650ish there are much better bikes out there. OK you might not get the same spec components, but even a Felt 29er or a Talon 29er is around £500/600 and could be upgraded in one or two areas with the change from your budget.0

Both are very similar in spec - in fact so close it is hard to say which is better. If I had to plump for one I'd say the Giant as the Easton finishing kit is pretty heavy, plus the SLX shifters have a better feel than the Deore, and better mechs too.
I would try them out and see what fits best. Most of the "gear no idea lot" seem to stick to Marin or Giant
They both make some superb bikes.0 -
I own a 2011 Attention and I love it to bits, I do a lot of commuting and quite a bit around trail centre's on it. It's comfy on the road and the kit is pretty decent for the price, reliable too. I've abused it pretty much daily since I bought it last April and not looked after it anywhere near as well as I should have, no issues at all. I wasn't too keen on the Dart forks though, not sure if the XC28's are pretty much the same? I have fitted set of Reba forks and a bigger front brake rotor recently and they have made a huge improvement.0

I would go for the Talon 2 instead of the Revel 0. Not as good components but a better frame.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
