Does anyone have any experience of wearing one of these shirts?
Will wearing one make any difference to the way motorists overtake me?
I'd like to think so.

    i'm sceptical

trying to read it will reduce the amount of attention a driver gives to the rest of what's going on

good drivers will give you space anyway, hostile ones may see it as a challenge

It depends really... it won't be very visible if the driver is going fast -> so would only really work in town?

and even then it depends on your position on the bike? I think it would only really catch attention at traffic lights to be honest.

If you want drivers to give you more leeway try a high power red flashing light.

If you want to draw attention, wear page 3 of the sun on your back.
If you don't cycle at dawn/dusk, there is no need for extra visibility... the problem is not that of not being seen, but undisciplined motorists that have seen you and try to squeeze in the gap anyway

I am not sure it will make any difference.

Over the last few months I have been wearing one of those reflective yellow vests. I do think it makes a difference as motorists can see you a long way off.

One thing I have seen which I thought was quite clever?

Some of the local horse riders wear these yellow reflective riding vests, on the back in blue letters it has

    Polite

    notice thank you
    for slowing down.

At first glance the "polite" does look a little like Police......I ma not sure if you are more or less likely to be run down by a maniac though?!
