Is there anything worse....

Well of course there is...much worse.....but it's still pretty disheartening when the first ride out on the 'new' bike as part of the 'lose the belly campaign' results in a puncture and a split in the tyre! I'd only gone about 5 miles, feeling good despite the shower of rain and the wind, but went over some mud left by tractors going in and out of a field and pop! Rear tyre gone....both tyre and inner tube have a 2cm split. Decided not to even try and fix it...phoned the good wife who came to my rescue.

Oh well, better go and see what other folks recommend for tyres......try again next weekend!

For this winter I bought some Schwalbe Blizzards without tempting fate the have been bullet proof - got a cracking deal from high on bikes the pair for £18. Admittedly not the lightest but fine the roads we are faced with.
