    Looks ok, but a bit fresh in the morning;

    0700 - 1000..2 degrees feels like -1, 8mph NE wind, cloudy
    1000 - 1300..5 feels like 2, 11mph N wind, sunny
    1300 - 1600..8 feels like 5, 11mph N wind, sunny

    :D:D
  • Weather is very changeable up there so be prepared for everything - one guaranteed fact is it will be cold on the exposed tops - a good warm base layer is a definite.

    I did the Lakeland Loop today too. My first Sportive. I'm doing the Fred Whitton this year so thought this would be a good taster. Managed all of the climbs without walking, which I was pretty chuffed with after hearing lots of stories about Hardknott in particular. Could have done with a lower gear for Hardknott and Wrynose - I have a compact 34/50 chainset with 12-25 cassette - might look at changing to a 27 or 28 tooth for the Fred Whitton.

    I used a 50/34 up front with a 13/29 on back. Perfect for today and the FW.

    Superb day today although how can you have a head wind all the way round a loop??

    Knocked 40 mins of last years time so well chuffed! :-)

    I agree about the head wind. Although it was not to strong it was present all day and every direction. Go figure :P

    Was a lovely day for it! The headwind on the section between Hardknott & Wrynose was just ridiculous!!

    Cracking Route in the lovliest part of the world, already looking forward to Wrynose or Bust in a fortnight!

    I never noticed the headwind...was too in awe of my first sighting of Hardknott :shock:

    How did you get on with Hardknott? Quite a sight when you see it for the first time

    Hardknott beat me into submission :|

    It was hard enough walking up the b*stard, so big respect to those that made it on a bike :D

    Wasn't just me who walked up Hardknott then! Getting cramp in my hamstrings after 36 miles didn't help.
