What bike to build?

i currently ride a giant anthem but want to build something up with a big more travel. has anyone got a suggestions of what frame i should buy to start from lookinf for about 140mm travel? preferably second hand.

willing to spend upto about 300 on frame.

You may struggle to get something decent, even second hand for £300, unless you are setting your sights on something quite old or battered. I think if you pushed that to £500 you may get more promise. I would have a look on the buy/sell section on pinkbike.com as there’s a lot on there. There’s some fairly cheap forks on there however, so you should be able to pick some up if you need some for not much.

okay cool, looks like i might have to up the budget. i was thinking something like the Giant Trance? but only because its the only 140mm bike i know.

Giant Trance is 125mm. Though is a capable frame.

You can usually get good condition Marin Wolf Ridge frames for under 300 and they are awesome. Bit heavy but so much fun.

You can get a Trance frame, not 140mm of travel, but very capable.. + many have coupled it with a 140mm fork. You can even see Giant equipping the top end Trance with 140 Talas fork.
