I fitted one on my Vulcan 3 months and 540km ago and it is still perfectly smooth. The original loose ball headset was shockingly bad so having sealed cartridge bearings is fantatsic plus they seem to be very good quality in general and the split crown race makes fitting easier. I knocked the old cups out with a screw driver and hammer then fitted the new cups using a couple of blocks of wood and a mallet, not the recommended way but it worked fine and I'm fairly certain it's perfectly straight.
Here's a couple of photos I took for reference (minus the cups) if you're interested.

I never realised it came with a crown race and a split one at that I've had some fun with the one I have fitted at the moment. But I've managed to make a few tools (cup remover and a press) so I'll upload pictures of that if it works!0 -
Okay, mine just arrived, but looking at it there is one part I don't recognise. In this picture -
What is the silver split ring in between the washer and the bearings?
Thanks for anyone who could shed some light0 -
Doesn't matter, google says its a compression ring, I take it this just sits on the steerer next to the upper bearings?0
