Carbon Full Suss

Hi all, I am looking at getting a full suss bike, I currently ride 2010 hardrock sport, which a lot of people here think is as sporty as a concrete donkey as it weighs a tonne. (I agree)
I really like the idea of upgrading to a fully comp little number and thought about carbon as well as its lighter.
I have come across a few brands mentioned but the one that keeps cropping up is the German build it yourself "canyon".
The question is how hard is it to put together and are the bikes that good, or are there as good alternatives at around the £1500 mark?

i think with canyon you just have to put wheels and the bars on, it's no where near a full on build. reviews in mags seemto be good and very good value. but the only down side is you don't get to try it beforehand0
