Three years ago I invested in a pair of Assos F1 Uno bib shorts, and I have not been disappointed. They must have done thousands of miles, and the time has come to replace them. Assos isn't cheap, the question is, have other brands made advances that will mean I get similar conmfort levels for less cash? I principally want them for 80 mile plus rides, where comfort is at a premium.

Any thoughts?

Mille are better than Uno, Castelli free aero are similar quality.

If you sway from Assos, you will be disappointed imo .....

Really like my Endura Equipe Endurance shorts, but I'd still stick with what you know if you re shelling out 100+. Shorts are as personal as saddles really...

Like my Assos Mille as well, but this year also grabbed a discounted pair of the Castelli Body Paint - not yet tested on long distances, but have used the same pad in the excellent Sorpasso tights on 100 milers, and they are superb, so no reason to doubt the bibs wont be just as good. I can instantly feel the difference comparing the above to typical club bibs etc - big price difference but also a big comfort difference IMHO.
