Front gear cable cutting into frame

Bike is Commencal Combi - the front gear cable runs through the outer and slots up into the frame just behind the BB. The inner wire then pokes up through a small hole in the frame behind the BB to come up to the front mech. Due to the angle across to the mech it is starting to cut into the frame which is making the cable drag a bit. Any ideas for a solution? Would a piece of electrical cable sleeve work?

I think you're going to need to post a picture.

Some ferrules (like goodridge ones) have a little extra cable guide that slots into the ferrule and pokes out about 1 inch from the end. That should work for you I think? You'll obviously need to replace fairly frequently though.

Yep, have tried that - just not long enough as it goes across at an angle rather than just straight up - and the frame is quite fat at that point - daft design really.

ok, lets go longer... How about the noodle and ferrule off an old v-brake?

Way too big - the hole is big enough for an inner wire
