First Levi, now Tony Martin becomes Quick Stepper number two, involved in a training ride car collision.

Martin lost consciousness and was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to the University Clinic in Zürich. Thursday afternoon his manager Jörg Werner told the dpa news agency that Martin had suffered a fractured jaw and cheekbone.

He is expected to undergo surgery early next week. "But first the swelling has to go down,"

Quickstep have never had success with GC riders in the past. This year they got in two that should've had great seasons and both get taken out by cars. The number of pro riders being hit at the moment is rather worrying.

It was my turn again this morning. Face planted into tarmac by 'oh-hadn't-spotted-you-driver-turning-left-without-indicating' mo*on.

I for one can't wait for these sort of gadgets to be widely employed:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobileye#P ... _Detection

    http://www.innovationnewsdaily.com/943- ... irbag.html

As internal airbags caught on in earnest in the early 19 nineties, it's perhaps another two decades or so when the majority of cars on the road will have some sort of detection system like above?

    Until then there's always myknoaky's!

Shit man, I'm not sure you are responsible enough for having that

    Why do you need/want that?

    Any other mods on here?

    Why do you need/want that?

Mainly to keep the peace. When discussions get out of hand etc.

Pro-race doesn't need much - but I can get stickys put up for example :)

It's another pair of eyes for the admin, who do the banning etc.

Think I'm the only 'mod' in road and commuting. There are obviously admins who cover more.

Did you swear an oath, do you get tested and do you have to inform hq on a regular base about your whereabouts?

If I told you I'd have to kill you.

Now let's keep it on topic.

    Big Tone's down.

D'ya think he threatened the driver with a shotgun?

Joking aside, it does sound quite serious - more serious than I first read/thought...

Anyone know where it was? At least, which country?

So will Tony once they've put his face back together. You've got to feel for these guys, this year is big.

    Indeed.

As bad as the broken socket is, the concussion is always more worrying!

    To me anyway.

All I know is that I was going about 35 to 40 km/h on a slightly descending bike path when probably a woman in a car crossed the path. Then the lights went out.

    No comment

Unconscious for 15 minutes though is nasty. Get well soon Tony.
