Les Arcs on the cheap

Hello, planning another trip to the alps, after last year in Morzine. Some friends are looking at les arcs, which looks awesome. However they are signing up to a chalet which also provides guiding etc, the base cost of which is £600 for a week with TA which I am sure is good value if you have the means, add in getting there and spending money that is easily near a grand. Last year Morzine was prob £600 all in, as the cost of place and travel was spilt between 6.

So looking at other more economical options, any suggestions on chalets in the area, where the price is for whole place so if you get more bodies the price comes down per person. Or campsites, or anyone know about the hutting system or even wild camping for some true adventure. Guide books etc.

And any other suggestion on other places in the Alps, I like XC, but kind of want places offering lifts, as those are some big hills.

Les Arcs £600 all in easy. Like your Morzine hols do the same thing. I spent about £500 last year including food and beer, tunnel, driving costs, chalet (7 sharing) and lift passes.

Met some of them involved and seemed like good people.

Four of us just got back from PDS. We drove in one car and camped at the site in Montriond, which is a five minute drive from Morzine and 10 mins from Avoriaz. We rode Morzine/Les Gets two days and Avoriaz / Chatel / Swizerland three. It was absolutely awesome.

Total cost for everything including tunnel, fuel, food, beer, some lunches out and a lift pass for 6 days, was £450.

Admittedly we didn't go out in Morzine of an evening, but that includes everything else. I'm not sure we could have done it much cheaper.
