Ok, seen a good deal on a 585 which are excellent frames but its the 'Elle' model

it is 2007 so apparently was not until 2008 when it was classed women specific !!? which i understand is a shorter top tube and enlarged headtube... ( i think there is also a space in the downtube for makeup etc ...)

anyway apart from being a girly bluey white rather than 'Masculine testostorone Black' !!! it looks great i previously had a 555 and have been looking for a 585 for some time.

any thoughts / previous experiences ?

cheers

p.s. i am actually not a stereotypical sexist male and will happily wear pink or other girly colours if the price is right ...my wife has just lynched me ...oww

The 585 Elle is basically a 585 Optimum with a few pastel highlights! The Optimum was the sportive oriented version of the 585 Origin so, as you say, the headtube is slightly taller and the top tube slightly shorter.

Not sure if the range of sizes for the Elle was a broad as the Optimum but as long as you fit the bike, you can buy it knowing that it is basically the same thing.

The Elle seemed to disappear from the range before the rest of the 585s were discontinued in 2010 - possibly they didn't see the point in making the same thing with a different paintjob.

Leedsmjh on here has a 585 Elle and it doesn't look that girlie to me. Certainly less so than the pink Planet Xs some folk on here ride!

My Optimum (in special edition white :) ) was one of the last and therefore one of the last lugged frames Look made 8) . I think it is terrific and I will never part with it!

In bike fitting terms, we aren't all made equal so if the geometry works for you, who gives a monkeys what gender the marketing department took aim at?!
