correct front derailleur Trek ex7

Hi, the previous owner of my bike converted it to 1x9, but I want to go back to a triple setup to do some XC routes this summer.
I have a "new" derailleur gifted by a friend but when placed on the seat tube to clear the suspension it has the wrong geometry to reach the correct position close to the front chain rings. In pictures I can see that the original one would have a mechanism that reaches down to the chain rings.
Can anyone advise me on the correct front derailleur to use please?
Thanks,
B.

Is it a 'conventional', or 'down-swing' one you need? Like this (in the correct diameter):
