Hi There,
I have just started riding again after about 10 years off (lol) and me and a few mates went down to Puddletown this weekend and got the bug straight away again.
I have always been a BMX rider but I have just got a full sus and I really do need some help, I know I need a single crank or really want one, I know I haven't got a iscg but I've got a standard bb internal but I just don't know where to go from there. My mates all say to get a MRP Adapter Plate and a MRP Mini G2 Steel Chain Guide.
but do i need a new bb, with this chain guide,
but looking at my bb on the gt idrive xcr I am unsure if this one will fit.
If anyone can guide me or know what I need to buy and where to get it from and what to do, I can fit it myself so I'm happy with that.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Noddy

Your mates are probably right: most bb-mounted guides, or one with an iscg adapter would fit. If you get a new chainset with an external bb, that'll be fine. If you keep your current one with a single ring, you'll probably need an e-type bb. They have extra threads and a slightly offset axle to accomodate a plate between the bb and frame.0

Ok thanks
ButI don't really want to buy a new BB
do you know of any chain guides that are a direct fit
the less hassle the better I am thinking
Many thanks
