Hi all

I own a Carrera tdf ltd edition road pro and need to replace the bottom bracket, can anyone help me choose the right size required.

Any suggestions for a particular model??? anyone had any experience with tdf's?????

It could be anything... can you describe the chainset and/or what it looks like, or even better post a pic? We don't store the specs on all bikes sold

Go into the branch of Halfords where you bought it (or your nearest one) and ask them.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Took the bike into Halfords as unfortunately i have neither the tools or experience to deal with bottom brackets, cranks and the like.

Halfords store staff say it's 113mm, website states 118mm. Store chap seems to have the impression it wont make much difference. Had the impression he said that so he could use what he had in stock, but not having much idea myself I trusted his opinion. However since having it replaced there is a major clicking noise when in the small ring and cannot get into 1st gear at all. Chain was replaced too and now seems to slip and sometimes misses gears.

Remind me not to use Halfords again!!!!! Frustration is not the word!!!!

Amazed at that! why did the mechanic think they do several sizes of bracket ?!!!! for fun!!! Deffo need to go back and get your bike fixed, BB change should have no real impact on gears ect. Did they change cassette as well as chain? maybe thats worn too?

after taking the advice of my lbs rather than the monkeys at Halfords, I was correct in thinking they have fitted the incorrect size bottom bracket. It does stick out further than should each side an so creates a rather acute chain angle when in big ring small cog or other way round etc.

Will take the advice of the lbs owner and get a new bb and new cassette whilst I'm at it.

No wonder my local Halfords is having a refit, paid for by selling the wrong parts to naive newbies like myself lol.

Thanks for all the advice people
