Dead quick question... are these grips the right way round or should the waffle pattern be under the fingers rather than the palm?

It doesn't matter since the waffle wears off so quickly. It'll be gone in a month or 2. I have/had mine the same as you before swapping them over to wear the other side out.0

Other way round, and the waffle should last a while (unless you run them the wrong way up like DIY ). The writing faces you, the waffly rectangles are for your finger tips to grip onto.A Flock of Birds

I actually only just put them like this, I've been using them the other (read: correct) way round for months and switched them cuz somebody told me I had them on wrong...
I guess I'll put them back then0 -

+1Constantly trying to upgrade my parts. It is a long road ahead as things are so expensive for little gain. n+1 is always the principle in my mind.0 -

:? I've had 3 sets of the metal ones and all of them have stayed on just fine. are you tightning the little grub screw up properly? You should fit the grip first, then slide on the end cap, then tighten up.0 -

Yeh installed them that way and they still came off :S Its ok now, ordered some new ones (needed them anyway) and so i'll get the plastic ones with it.Cotic BFE MK II0 -
I've only had one of those bar ends fall off once in about a year or so of riding, and that was probably down to me not tightening it properly.0
