Currently i have a set of handbuilt wheels which are pretty nice. They make my bike look a bit old school as they are 32 spoke and whilst i will keep these wheels i fancy a bit of bling for the summer and want some Ksyrium Elites. I can get them at a pretty good price but apart from a potential 400g weight saving am still finding it hard to justify. Am i being daft and obsesive or will the wheels make for a faster, more responsive ride?

I am a MAMIL now BTW and love bikes but dont race etc....

I changed from 32h 2x wheels on my Spesh to Ksyrilium Elites and... Wow. They bike feels much more responsive, much lighter (more than the weight saving), it is MORE comforable and I now get no brake rub/flex. Best money I have spent. But do them justice and pair them up wih some light tubes/tyres. Im using spesh Pro tubes and Pro3 Race and no puntures in 3k (hitting wood franticly!)

Cheepest when I lookes was Merlin - log in with account for another 10% on their price.

but at least if they braek a spoke, rims wear out you can get them repaired , and still complete a ride with a broken spoke, whislt factory built are harder to repair ; personally I gave up on factory wheels sevearl years ago
Get a better pair nice lighter handbuilts
