I'll try to sumarise all the bullsh*t that will follow...:
-Wet lubs slightly better than dry
-Wet attracts more dirt which can wear drivetrain in dirty/dusty condtions
-Wet lats longer in the wet
-Dry is very clean and does not pick up dirt
-Does not last well in the wet but good in the dry
-Cleaner drivetrain if not ridden in wet.
I use dry because the black mess of wet offends my eyes, and I like to be able to drag my bike in my car/flat/bed without any marks. Wet if there is standing water for the reasons above.0 -
Also worth noting that some dry chain lubes are not actually dry (to touch) it just leaves a much thinner coating on the chain.Yellow is the new Black.0

so for riding on the road ( in dry cos I'm a wuss!! ) its best I get a dry lube like http://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk/produc ... ith%20PTFE2012 Bianchi Via Nirone Xenon

I recently gave my bike a bit of an overhaul and noticed that the wet lubed chain had picked up a lot of grit and dirt. Currently using Finish line dry teflon based oil and so far so good - looks a lot cleaner and still feels nice and slippy!
