Planning my first MTB day in the Peaks somewhere next week.

What route would you all recommend? Not too fussed on actual location, but needs to be 2-3 hours long, have at least one proper fun descent and be doable on a HT (150mm BFe).

I'd suggest the Ladybower route. The Beast is tricky, but eminently doable on a HT (I have the same BFE but with a Lyrik) The Roman road if dry(ish) then it can be good fun. Suicide brake (Gores Heights) is fantastic, being a good mix of stuff and fast. Climb up the flagstones to Derwent edge and then follow round to the last rocky drop behind the pub. Great chip butty and onion rings and the beers good!

  • I have just done the Goyt Valley ride in the current issue of mountainbiking uk, magazine this starts at Buxton train station and takes you around the resiviours and some fantasic countryside.
Its just over 15 miles and takes about 2 - 3 hours, check it out!
