Setting up vee brakes

I've just cleaned up the vee brakes on my new (old) kona Koa and I can't seem to get the vee brakes set correctly. When I pull the lever they are not pulling equally left and right. On other vee brakes ive had there was a little screw to adjust the spring tension, these haven't got that, just the long spring that goes from the mount to the top of the brake arm. Anybody got any suggestions?

Unhook the spring on the offending arm and bend it out a little. Hook it back up, repeat until centred.
