brand new headset wedge jammed need some help

Hi i stupidly over tightened my stem down onto my brand new FSA Pig ... i have removed the stem but the wedge wont budge! How can i get this back off without killing a brand new headset please?

i forgot to grease the wedge too... duh!

    tap the top of the steerer with a mallet. This will force it down into the wedge a few mil. Then tap the forks from the bottom. Hey presto, wedge released.

    Lightly grease the steerer tube when you reassemble the retainer ring wedge - that way, it will get lubricated as well as forming a grease seal as you slide the ring down onto the headset top cup.
