Ultegra wheel freehub compatability / swap?
Just bought some used Ultegra 6600 wheels :-)
They turn out to have a deep spline (Dura-Ace?) type Shimano hub and won't take my 9 speed 105 cassette :-(
Can I fit my older Shimano WH-550 freehub onto them? The hubs look identical at the inboard side and the spokes join in the same manner, I'm thinking they're the same technology, they're about the same age. But the outboard is different and my 16mm cone spanners are too small (and naturally nowhere in the village stocks larger cone spanners).

Solved it, they may look similar but are totally different inside. The Ultegra wheels are built to a higher standard and have a much larger diameter axle.
Ended up putting them on my 10 speed road bike and used its wheels for the tourer (9 speed).http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.
