Benefits of 10 speed over 20 speed?

Looking at a new bike this year, but noticed that the 2012 Cannondale CAAD/Synapse now come as 10 speed, unlike the 2011 CAAD8 20 speed. What are the pros and cons of 10 speed over 20 speed? I would also like to add that I am utterly rubbish on hills, usually lowest gear and just churn away...

    Both are '20 speed'

    With 10 gears on the cassette on the rear wheel, and 2 on the chainset at the front.
