Like all our bikes this is my pride and joy, my baby - I love it!

The bike is in it's second version, having just stripped the frame from some Shimano 105 kit, which will adorn my winter bike. I didn't intend on doing a full re-build but as you know it's easy to get carried away and I'm super-pleased with the end result!

Toray T800 Frame and fork.
Sram Force groupset. (black variation chainset) and white hoods
Sram RED ceramic GXP BB.
KMC X10 SL chain in gold 8)
Swiss stop green pads.
Aligator I link cables w/Sram frame protectors.
Kinlin XR-300 rims.
DT swiss revolution spokes on the front.
DT swiss competition spokes on the rear.
The Titanium quick release, Ti stem, Ti seat post, Ti stem cap, Ti seat clamp, a few Ti bolts, forged hubs and carbon handle bars are from Spin cycle works. I saw their stand at the National cycle show at the NEC and was very impressed with the quality of the kit and I just had to have a few bits and pieces of theirs!
Fizik Antares Kium saddle.
PRO bar tape.
Continental GP4000S tyres and Contintental supersonic tubes.
LOOK keo carbon max pedals.

Weight 7.2kg

You see some real dogs dinners unbranded frames but I think this works really well, looks fantastic. Nice red bits.

The white hoods are terrible though. I just picked up some new shifters with white hoods and I've had to order some black ones, they just look so bad.

That's really nice, very different. Really like the Spin components you've used.

I'd drop the white hoods and tape and go for black.

Love the Ti parts though look really smart.
  • Not so much love for the white hoods - shocked at that. I'm a big fan of the white hood/tape combo with the white bits of the "Force" branding also needless to say the saddle then had to be a white Antares  I wear a white and red helmet/glasses and white Giro prolight shoes so like to think the white on the bike is justified

That bike stand is from Ribble - about 14 quid I think.

Other than the hoods thanks for the nice comments I spent ages deciding what components to get for V2 of the bike and tried to get an understated look with little branding, but lots individual detail and function if you look long enough. I could of made the bike well under 7kg with using my old finishing Deda kit and saddle but the titanium stuff is very forgiving and looks really good. It's turned out as good as I hoped and quietly pleased at myself for the building of it all too. I might change the cassette - I don't need a 28t sprocket really lol is perhaps the only thing I'd change - I've seen some quite cheap RED ones about.

Just when I thought black/white/red was looking a bit cliche...

That's a beauty! Really nice looking clean build and the blingy red bits aren't too much. My personal preference would've been black hoods on white tape (i.e. what I went for recently with my own SRAM Force groupset) but the white hoods are still nice. I did consider them for a short while myself but apart from the fact that they were just a little OTT for my more classic build I read a fair bit about them being difficult to keep clean. So yeah, good luck with that!
  • A bit of cif on a clean microfiber cloth is all you need for your white bar tape and hoods needs to stay brand-new clean. The hoods are really easy to clean, bar tape can take a bit of elbow grease, but will eventually come very white again. ;)
  • Seeing as it's pouring down and I'm waiting for the biking to come ont' tele I thought I'd get a few updated pics of the stead.

I'm sure it'll divide opinion and I'm sure it was noticed instantly - the new De Rosa decals. The frame is a Carbon zone R004, which I see a few people have on here now and I've had it now maybe two years and I can't fault it. The R004 is pretty much a Ribble stealth frame or a De Rosa R838, but I gather the carbon in the De Rosa is slightly different, but anyway I thought I'd chuck on some subtle decals and chose De Rosa, rather than Ribble...as you would  I also repainted it matt black using Rustoleum paint from a rattle can, as I've had a few "incidents" going down hill over the past couple of years and the finish is surprisingly good.

A few other new additions - Black, soft touch Fizik tape, black Antares saddle and Veloflex Corsa 22mm tyres, which I love btw. Also swapped back to the black hoods...I think it looks pretty good all in all, it gets ridden and cleaned pretty much everyday and it comes up a treat every time!

Am i the only person in the world that thinks gold chains look shit?

This bike looks great by the way, well co-ordinated EXCEPT for the gold chain! What persuaded you to go gold especially considering you have quite a few nice silver parts which a silver chain would go so much better with?!?!

Oh and i think you've been tasteful with the anodized parts. People often go way over board. Well done for not going any further!
  • They look better in the flesh. I was sceptical before seeing one, but when I saw one I reckoned they looked quite cool (when clean!)

I'm sure after the winter when it'll need replacing I'll go more traditional and go back to silver.
  • All quite lovely, but consider me "divided" on the decals. I don't get the point of them at all...

I'm not divided on the decals. They look like cheap stickers stuck on a cheap chinese frame.
However it looked quite classy before.

True about the decals. Looked better before! Perhaps if they were the right size and didn't look like stickers then fine.

    Fair do's with the chain.
  • I really do wish they were cheap, however they weren't!

I was bored of the plain frame and wanted something on there, so gave them a bash. I didn't clear coat over them, so could get them off easily if I decide to at a later date.
  • Probably better without - they turn a unique bike into a wannabe bike.
  • Nice looking bike, without the decals that is, if you want a Derosa pay the premium for one.

  • Maybe I kind of did  there's a belief that this frame is maybe a De Rosa R838, maybe it's made in the same factory? Personally I haven't a clue, all I know is it's the same geometry as the R838/Stealth and that it's certainly lasted well.
  • The bike looked like an absolute joy before the decals. I'm sorry they have to go!

I'm seriously tempted to steal your ti stem and steapost idea - looks very cool on the black carbon frame.
