Value For Money Gear Sets/Drive train

As I am drastically running out of places to buy 13-21, 7 speed cassettes I am thinking to replace the 7 speed system on my tarmac spec bike for 9 speed.

With an eye on getting the best ‘bang for your buck’ what systems do people prefer?

My first thought is to go for a SLX M660 triple chainset and gear lever with Ultegra cassettes

I run XTRs on the off roader; they are lovely but very expensive.

Bike already has SLX rear dérailleur
Weight is not the biggest issue
Reliability and longevity is important
Prefer Shimano, as all my bikes run it

    rose bikes have the deore crankset for 41 quid

    Go for SLX; solid and dependable, and the crankset stays looking good.
