With over a week till my next bit of work, i decided to have a go at respraying my trusted steed.

The original poo brown is pretty boring! so i have decided to go for something a bit more flashy and see able!

Anyway this is where i started this morning, after a much needed bacon sandwich!

this is what i managed by the end of day 1

the paint is pretty much off the front half of the bike, and the welds are much smoother now.

hoping the weather holds out for a few more days so the spraying can be begin!

after being rained out and day two, and called into work on day three, work resumed today.

all prepped ready for some primer, hopefully i can get my hands on some paint tomorrow amd the weather holds out....

also my inner tube came today, so i can fix my puncture on my back wheel.

i noticed ive lost a bit out of the BB too

anyone know where i can get my hands on another one?

cant wait to get back on it and go for a ride!
  • It's just a plastic cap for the bolt, it won't make a difference mechanically but if you're worried about the looks of the crank bolts not being the same just go to some local bike shops, they'll more than likely have one knocking around in the workshop!

    awsome! cheers bud!

also, im pretty clued up on painting the frame, the forks on the other hand....
they are meant to be carbon, is the best plan of attack just to put a light key on them with some abrasive paper?

May sound like a silly question, but how do i check if they are carbon?

If you have to strip the forksand they are carbon, DO NOT USE any chemical agent as it will attack the lacquer of the forks. Use wet n dry only.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

more progress today, the frame has its 1st coat of primer.

expected to get more out of one can... need to go back and get more tomorrow, and more cans of paint as i can see those running short too :(

forks are keyed up ready to go. I was planning to use plastic primer on the forks before the hammerite, i think ill skip it.

i think the weather will hold me up again, it clouded over a lot this arvo. i hope it clears up overnight!
im not going to paint on an overcast day risking the possibility of rain....
