looking to fit a chain catcher on my new felt ar3 2011 with sram red and a compact chainset.
are the k-edge chain catchers worth the money or will a token chain catcher be just as good?
what about the rotor ones too?
where is the cheapest for the k-edge?
i presume i need the braze on one rather than the one with the band?
cheers

I've had the Token catcher fitted for 18 months or so. Works brilliantly, no need to spend more IMO.0

I have a Deda Dog Fang Chain Catcher.0

The Token chain catcher is great, but for SRAM Red the supplied bolt isn't long enough so you'll need to source one that's a few mm longer. Sounds simple, but it's not when you only want to buy one.More problems but still living....0

Why are chain catchers needed? If the limit screws are set correctly on your mech then surely its a non issue? Not dropped a chain once on 2000 k and counting... (Now will drop chain on next ride...)0

I've had Token, K-Edge and Rotor and they're all pretty similar obviously but the Token is the weakest of the three, but then it is the cheapest, I think.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

It happened to me only the once when changing down and going over some rough ground at the same time, just as well it happened on my Ti bike as the scratches brushed out of the bb, had it happened on my carbon bike..................for the sake of a few quid it's good insurance.
Most pros use them and I bet their limit screws are correctly set!0 -

How is the Token weak? How did you determine that its weak? I don't see the benefit of something that's 'strong' given the function it needs to serve - all it has to do is deflect the chain. You don't need a massive chunk of steel to do that.More problems but still living....0 -
Have a K edge fitted to my Giant with SRAM Red Black, it comes with 2 bolts of varying lengths, as others have said you will need the longer bolt. I dont think braze or bolt on makes a difference with the SRAM setup since i thought the front mech was the same you just add the bolt on bracket if required, although i could have made that up.0

I use the token as photographed on the Cervelo R3s on the tour of Flanders. Fine so far (not that I've needed it yet) easy to install0

I bet Andy Schleck wishes he'd had one.0 -
Not really, he still won the Tour...0
