Hi Everyone,

I am looking at cycling on my own over the easter weekend in Wales. I live in Manchester.

Could anyone suggest some routes to cycle in Wales close by to Manchester. I am also looking to hire the bike. I would prefer any places where I could hire the bike.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks
Deva

It depends how long you are willing to spend out on the bike and how far you want to travel.

Afan, Cwmcarn, and the Forest of Dean are all popular trail centres in the south of Wales but a little closer to Manchester would be the Marin Trail in Betws Y Coed in North Wales. A fairly long trail with a few technical rocky bits but a really nice one.

You can find all the trail centres in Wales on this website: http://www.mbwales.com/ gives you maps of the centres and all the trails they have. Hope I've been helpful.

Llandegla is close to Manchester and apparently does bike hire (I've only ever been on Mondays when the shop is shut).

yea from manc (assuming you are driving) for hire and a range of well marked, graded trials llandgla is your nearest bet M56, a55 a483, a525, and hour and a half.....which is why its always rammed at the weekends.

bit further "bikes betws" in betwis-y-coed and the marin or penmanchno again are waymarked if you dont know the area.

bit further still coed y brennin.

    Hi there.

Shameless plug but for your next visit, my website TrailGuru has loads of info including trails, bike hire, accommodation etc all over Wales. Check it out!!

I hope you enjoyed your ride wherever you decided to go.. Personally I'd recommend Llandegla or the Clywyds for something a bit more off-piste.

    Cheers,
