Went for a bit of a bimmble with a mate this afternnon got 4 miles in and a large branch snaps my xt derailleur hanger. Try to use the chain link tool and that breaks. So miles back home with my riding my mates bike while he holds a 4ft branch on my bike and tow him and my broken bike home. As for derailleur hangers ar they expensive to but for the xt

Its the peice of metal thats attached to the frame and then the derailleur its snapped and assume these are frame specific then?0

your local dealer is a good place to get one quickly, if not then here list pretty much every one.
Expect to pay around £15-£100 for one dependant on frame, usually they're around £200 -

Blimey! Though it doesn't surprise me that any intense spare part costs a fortune. Kona do a similar thing on their stinky which they sell for about £30. Not CNC machined, but still!0

I dunno, I've heard a lot about skewiff frames coming out of the factory not welded properly etc...0
