How often do you clean your helmet?

I dunk mine in hot water after every sweaty ride, then let it dry overnight. I find it doesn't smell as much. Every now and then I'll give it a soak in basin of diluted bleach.

I normally just give it a good wash in the shower with the rest of me :D Bleach has got to smart!

Occasionally rip the front bit off (it's only attached by velcro) and give it a squeeze in warm water until all the gunk has come out.

    When it smells...

Pads in the washing machine in a sock, water for the rest of it and the straps

Helmet straps and pads are extremely good collectors of grime. I really need to clean mine.

errr Never, in my defense I did the Cheshire Cat and got a free bottle of Purple Harry's Helmet and Glove Sanitiser. Started using those.

    You can wash them?
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

    ^^^This.

I occasionally wipe over the helmet with a damp cloth (no detergent). Find this good enough.

Speaking of cleaning the helmet - how often do people REPLACE their pads?

I tried washing mine and they fell apart so I've ordered 2 replacement sets (£4.99 each)
