Aldi / Lidl when they have them.

Sometimes they bill them as cycle, other times a ski or even jogging but as it is a top it really does not matter.
    Yellow is the new Black.

+1 for Aldi but if they haven't got any, these are very good: http://shop.uniqlo.com/uk/goods/070542#colorSelect

I was given one for Xmas and it's great (mine's white btw)

I like the merino ones. They don't smell so you only need one :-D

Mountain Warehouse or Cotswold outdoors do good cheap ones

£18, Merino inner with a synthetic outer to hold its form better and dry quicker. Mine doesnt smell like full synthetic tops. Warm enough but breathable enough not to get too hot either. Fantastic at the price...

+1 for Aldi gear. Rode into work today wearing that and Aldi short sleeve jersey and was plenty warm (it was about 8 degrees).

Otherwise if your budget allows it get a Canterbury instead. Really good and only £24.

The Rapha baselayers, 3 for £110 are actually really good value...I think it is the only thing i could justify buying new from Rapha.

Aldi are selling off their range of "motorcycle" compression base layers. Long sleeve, black, excellent quality and just as relevant to cycling. £8 each. I bought three, have tested them thoroughly and am very pleased.

CRC have a special on Endura kit at the mo - The transition base layer is supposed to be very good for the price, no personal experience though
