Living in North West London

Been looking for a flat in north west London (Ruislip, Harrow, Uxbridge) for a while now and cant find anywhere. I realistically can spend around £500 a month as I may only be there for 6 months. I’ve tried spare room and gumtree but seem to find rather strange people. Does anyone know of anyone looking to rent a room? Or the best places to look.

Any help would be amazing.

    Don't know about rooms, but doubt you'll find a flat for anything near that. Double maybe.

    ah yes, meant to put double room, not flat.

    It's a rather frustrating process. If anyone knows anyone, friends of friends or whatever, then let me know.
