Wheel upgrade for future.

Only just bought 2012 Giant escape RX2 for commute but would like some advice on wheel upgrade in future,I have knowledge on 'Race' wheels but lost when it comes to hybrids etc. :?: :?:

Get some decent handbuilts.
Pretty much any rims on shimano hubs built well will last for ages. if you want something light and tough look for stans 29r rims on hope hubs for a completely bombproof fairly light wheelset.0 -
What is your budget, and what do you want from the upgrade? Lighter weight? Better hubs? Stiffer wheels?0

as i am not a lightweight myself my main concern is reliability and durability over stiffness and weight are main requirements....budget is £250.00.C490

The stock wheels don't look particularly heavy, but there should be lighter for your budget. I'd guess yours weogh about 2kg for the pair.
